Mr Food's Tomato Red Relish- 9/19/95

  • 4 lg Tomatoes, red ripe
  • 1/4 c Fresh basil -- chopped
  • 1 tb Sugar
  • 3 tb White vinegar
  • 2 tb Chopped onion -- (fine)
  • 1/2 ts Garlic powder
  • 1/2 ts Salt


Cut the tomatoes in half crosswise, then squeeze gently to remove the juice and the seeds; cut the tomatoes into cubes. Place the cubes in a medium-sized bowl and add the remaining ingredients; stir until well mixed. May be served immediately, but better after chilling, covered, overnight or up to 1 week.
Yield: 3 cup
