Meringue Crust

Low-fat/cal Pies/pastry

Ingredients:

  • 3 lg Egg whites -- at room
  • Temperature
  • 1/4 ts Cream of tartar
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 3/4 c Sugar -- superfine
  • 1/2 ts Vanilla

Directions:

Spray 9" pie plate with vegetable oil spray. Combine whites, cream of tartar and salt in large bowl. Beat to soft peaks. Gradually beat in sugar. Add vanilla. Beat till stiff and shiny. Spread in pie plate.
 
Using the back of a spoon form a decorative rim. Ba ke 1 hour, 15 min. at 275F till firm and crisp. Cool on a rack.
