German Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 4 c Flour; All-Purpose
  • 1 c Shortening
  • 2 tb Sugar
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 1 ts Baking Soda
  • 2 ts Cream Of Tartar
  • 3/4 c Skim Milk
  • 3/4 c Water
  • 1 lg Egg; beaten slightly
  • 1 c Sugar; Brown
  • 1/2 c Flour; All-Purpose
  • 1/2 c Walnuts; chopped
  • 1/2 c Raisins

Directions:

Mix 4 cup flour, shortening, sugar, salt, soda and cream of tarter with water and milk (may take a little more than the 1 cup liqud). Roll out dough in jelly roll fashion. FILLING - Mix together egg, brown sugar and 1/2 cup flour. Spread on rolled out dough. Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 1" slices. Bake at 450 for 12 minutes.
