Backyard Beer Burgers

Barbecue Meat


  • 1 1/2 lb Ground beef
  • 1 sm Onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 c Regular or nonalcoholic beer
  • 1 tb Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 1/4 ts Pepper
  • 2 Cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 6 Rye or whole wheat hamburger buns, split
  • Ketchup, if desired
  • Pickle planks, if desired


Heat coals or gas grill. Mix all ingredients except bun and cheese. Shape mixture into 6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
Grill patties uncovered about 4 inches from medium heat 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center and juice is clear. Add buns, cut sides down, for last 4 minutes of grilling or until toasted. Top burgers with ketchup and pickle planks; serve on buns. Yield: 6 servings Typed in MMFormat by Source: On the Grill!
